Luck, gold, time? - Guild Wars Forums

Is their a way to get money and good items fast? i have spent 160 hours with GW, 90 hours on my main char and the most valuble thing iv found is a black dye . the most money i have had at one time is 7k which was then spent buying max armour which i just recently got. Is this game pure luck or what this weekend i got one dye black nothing else my entire account i have only found 10 gold items four of which were Gold runes. i tried farming a place a freind was doing for totem axes 2 hours later i had none am i doing something wrong here do i need 300 hours before i get 20k am i just unlucky. My freind seems to have all the luck he has about 60 hours of gameplay and has 3 sets of max armour for 1 char, trades Highend gold items constintly, dyes his armour all white what is going on?

m8 first take some time find out what your good at if u got a 55 monk abuse it in hm or if u got a w/rt u can solo Fow and UW big money to be made their.
Also if u can run people from place to place do that plenty of people need runs. Just a matter of what your good at and what u have to use with i made alot of my fortune befor lootscaling and i farm ever now and then to keep my money up i also do some running i solo fow and uw and abuse my 55 monk. so just look theirs plenty of ways to make money all depends on what u want to do.

lmao i wish i could take your advice but i have a very bad connection making me go very slow if i play with other people very very slow so running is unable and since i can have other people in my party i have had to solo everything and have not reached a place to go to the underworld i also have no money so i cant buy a key to get their and i heard it is very hard down their and with just me and my heros soloing i doubt i would survive i am a level 20 R/M barrager i also have a burning ranger build

Not sure what a R/M is but you may be able to farm the forest in FoW for shards
Also if you solo UW with W/Rt heroes just get in the way and take the aggro off you which is bad as you are tanking and DON'T attack the smites just stand and let vengeful spells do their work

It's hard to make money since loot scaling but it's ok because Anet did it to help you casual and new players

And punish people that have more spare time

Also now you have to farm longer to make same cash so the "You have been playing for X (maybe XX

) hours" is now useless as this was ment to stop people playing for hours on end but now you have to if you want cash

max armors only cost about 5k plus materials. 60-200 game hours really isn't that much anyways. do you tend to just randomly spend your gold since that seems to be the main problem a lot of people have about not having any money.
also you said you friend constantly trades "highend" golds. if he is, then he woudl have a lot more money than you're saying. what do you consider high end golds?

anyways, just be more stingy with your money and just save up gold when you get it. you don't have enough money to be able to powertrade so your other avenues of just making gold is either running other people or farming. personally, i wouldn't worry about making money for a while. when i first started playing, i didn't bother buying anything or worrying about gold beyond buying a set of max armor in droks until i beat prophecies and factions with protector titles.

I agree....beat the storyline first...then worry about making money...if you happen to save a bit on the way through or get some nice drops then try to sale em...if you don't know what they are worth...try to get a PC here in the Price check forum or ask your friend. Money comes but it is slow...as far as trying to solo farm....you are pretty much out of luck if you computer is too slow. Is it your connection that is slow or you computer?

Luck is definitely a factor, but it's not the only factor. Some people get lucky and find a rare item worth 100K + ecto or get a minipet on their birthday worth tons, and others just never catch a break. But you can still play smart and save your money and be just as successful in the game.
